What are Echoes in Wuthering Waves?

Wuthering Waves employs an echoes system, which in effect assists players in battle as well as offers a boost in stats. It also provides special abilities that can turn the tide in battle and really help out your team.

Wuthering Waves contains a large number of echoes, each with its own attributes and uses. The effects that they have as well as their impact in battle will depend on how you equip and level up your echoes for each Resonator in your team.

The echoes system in Wuthering Heights can be a bit confusing, especially if you are not completely familiar with the gameplay mechanics of titles such as these.

Fortunately, we have created the ultimate Wuthering Waves Echoes System Guide so that you can make the most out of this very exciting part of this gacha title.

So, what are the echoes?

Echoes are a form of loot that is acquired when killing beasts or bosses. These are dropped by fallen enemies, and Resonators can collect and store them in their inventory.

Different echoes have different abilities, affinities, stats, and other attributes. They can also be leveled up and equipped into groups or sets that offer additional beneficial effects in the field.

List of all Echoes

As of CBT2, Wuthering Waves features 57 unique echoes, each offering distinct abilities and stats. For the full list of echoes, check out wuthering.gg.

Echo Attributes

Many different factors differentiate one echo from another. Even if the echo came from the same beast or enemy, they can still differ in several aspects.

Listed below are some of the attributes that echoes may have.

Class

Echoes are divided into four classes, namely:

  • Common
  • Elite
  • Overlord
  • Calamity

Common echoes are easier to acquire but have less power. On the other hand, calamity echoes are typically acquired from bosses and have better stats and abilities.

Rarity

Rarity is ranked from 2 to 5, with each assigned a different color. These are:

  • Two (Green)
  • Three (Blue)
  • Four (Purple)
  • Five (Gold)

Echoes with higher rarities have higher base stats as well as more powerful skills. You may increase the drop rate of higher-rarity echoes by increasing the level of your Data Dock, which can be done by collecting different rarity echoes for the first time.

Cost

Depending on its class, the cost of an echo will either be 1, 3, or 4. This cost plays a part as Resonators have only a limited cost limit, defined by their Data Dock level.

Common class echoes have a cost of 1 while Elite class echoes have a cost of 3. Overlord and Calamity class heroes have a cost of 4. Rarity and levels do not affect the cost of echoes.

Stats

Echoes have different stats that can enhance the attributes of the Resonator that equips them. Each echo will have two main stats and up to five substats, depending on the rarity.

Some attributes would be fixed while others will be based on an RNG. Substats will unlock and stats in general will improve once echoes are levelled up.

Stats that echoes may have include flat Attack or HP, Attack %, HP%, Defense %, Crit Rate %, Crit Damage %, Energy or Health Regen, or Elemental Damage.

Skills

Each echo will also have an active skill that can be triggered once the Resonator that equips said echo calls upon it. Skills will vary from echo to echo and can either have offensive, defensive, or support effects.

Take note that only one echo skill may be called per Resonator. This will depend on which echo is equipped in your main slot. There is also a cooldown timer before the skill can be triggered again.

Equipping Echoes

Players can equip up to 5 echoes. The maximum cost total for equipped echoes is 12, and this number will depend on the level of your Data Dock.

The best combination of echoes, thus, in terms of cost would be 4, 3, 3, 1, 1.

The first slot that you have is called the Tonic slot. The other four slots, on the other hand, and called Consonant slots. Only the skill of the echo equipped in the Tonic slot can be activated.

Sonatas

Echoes can also belong to one of nine Sonata effects. Sonatas are similar to elements, and their skills and stats are most often affected by the Sonatas that the echoes belong to.

The same beast or boss can drop echoes that have two different sonata effects. For some classes like the Overlord and Calamity class echoes, however, there would be only one Sonata effect no matter how many are dropped.

The nine Sonata sets and their general effects are:

  • Freezing Frost (deals Glacio damage)
  • Molten Rift (deals Fusion damage)
  • Void Thunder (deals Electro damage)
  • Sierra Gale (deals Aero damage)
  • Celestial Light (deals Spectro damage)
  • Havoc Eclipse (deals Havoc Damage)
  • Rejuvenation Glow (provides Healing and stat boosts)
  • Moonlit Clouds (provides Energy Regen and stat boosts)
  • Endless Resonance (increases Attack %)

Equipping echoes with the same Sonata effects will have beneficial effects. For example, a 2-set echo from the Freezing Frost Sonata set will add 10% Glacio damage. On the other hand, a 5-set piece will allow for stacking of Glacio damage by up to 30%.

With that being set, equipping echoes strategically will be important as you would need to balance cost, stats, as well as bonuses that you can get from Sonata sets.

Levelling Up Echoes

All echoes can be leveled up by feeding them items or other echoes. However, only 75% of the consumed EXP will go towards the EXP increase of the echo.

Echoes will have different max levels as well, depending on rarity. The highest max level is 10 for green rarity echoes while gold rarity echoes max out at level 25.

As echoes level up, the power of their skills and existing stats will increase as well. In addition, they would be able to unlock substats using items.

As such, the higher the level, the higher and greater the possible stat boosts, although green rarity monsters are the exception.
