Boss kit

gunsmoke frontline Nemertea Xenotype basic attack

Acid Expansion

Deals AoE Physical damage equal to 80% of attack to all enemy units within 5 tiles, knocking them back by 1 tile. If 5 or more enemy targets hit, Nemertea takes 10 points of fixed stability damage.

While in Stability Break, targets instead the furthest and closest enemy units, dealing Physical damage equal to 100% of attack and knocking them back by 1 tile.

Festering Spittle

Selects the enemy targets with the highest HP and the lowest HP, dealing AoE Corrosion damage equal to 60% of attack that ignores Cover to them and all enemy units within a 3x3 area, and applies [Digestive Saliva] for 2 turns.

At the same time generates [Swamp] for 4 turns.

[Digestive Saliva] - Damage taken is increased by 20%. Can stack. Lasts for 2 turns. If cleansed, all ally units gain 1 stack of [Saliva-Dipped] for 2 turns.

[Saliva-Dipped] - Attacks ignore 5% of the target’s defense. Can stack.

[Swamp] - inflicts [Putrefaction] to enemy units that remain within the area at the end of their action, lasting for 1 turn. Considering a Corrosion tile.

[Putrefaction] - Mobility is reduced by 2 tiles. At the end of the action, take fixed damage equal to 50% of boss attack.

Notes:

Maintaining [Saliva-Dipped] buff on allies will require two cleanses each 2 turns: a single target (on even turns) and an AoE (on odd turns) one. Some notable sources of defensive cleanses include:

  • Centaureissi: Ult, Key5 for S1/S2
  • Suomi: Ult
  • Mechty: Ult (Nightmarish Shroud), S2 (self)
  • Peritya: Key3 (self)
  • Papasha: S2 (self)
  • Dushevnaya: Key6 (self) stand on ice tile
  • Vector: V2 for Ult
  • Ksenia: Key5 for S2/Support Attacks
  • Colphne: Ult, Key5 for S1/S2, Common Key for any healer
  • Cheeta: Key5 for S2

Crested Split

Randomly summon 1 [Flesh Vine] within 2-5 tiles of this unit.

Starting the next turn after being summoned, applies [Parasitic Seed] to a random enemy for 2 turns and deals Corrosion damage equal to 100% of attack (2062) to them. Upon death, applies [Brambles] to all enemy targets for one turn.

[Parasitic Seed] - Attack is reduced by 20%. Can stack. Can not be cleansed.

[Brambles] - Attack is increased by 10%.

Howl of the Hunt

Deals AoE Physical damage that ignores Cover equal to 100% attack to all enemies. For every 3 targets hit, gains 1 stack of [Trepidation] for 1 turn.

[Trepidation] - Defense is reduced by 20%, stacking up to 3 times.

Membrane Hardening I

When stability index is greater than 0, reduce damage taken by 80%.

Unable to receive stability restoration effects during Stability Break, restore stability index to full 2 turns after Stability Break.

Unstable Suture

When subjected to an active attack from an enemy Doll, if the attacking Doll has 3 or more buffs, Nemertea - Xenotype gains 1 stack of [Relaxation], to a maximum of 15 stacks.

[Relaxation] - At the start of the action, convert this into an equal number of [Fragile Membrane] stacks for 1 turn.

[Fragile Membrane] - Damage taken is increased by 2%, stacking up to 15 times.

Squad Preparation

Include enough sources of defensive cleanse to deal with [Saliva-Dipped] stacking:

Centaureissi alone is enough to both maximize and maintain stacks, Ksenia and Colphne can maintain stacks by themselves, others may need to pair up.

Keep in mind the 3 buff requirement of Passive II: Unstable Suture, if you have leeway to do so.

Papasha: sixth target provides your team with extra 20% defense shred every other turn. Should you maintain [Saliva-Dipped] stacks, your defense shred will overcap, making Papasha presence provide no benefit outside of Yoohee physical squad.

Squad Formation

You need to position your squad to fulfill two objectives:

  1. Basic Attack: Acid Expansion outside of Stability Break should always hit at least 5 targets.
  2. Two applications of Skill I: Festering Spittle should affect your entire squad.

There is a formation that satisfies both objectives with minimal doll repositions during the fight:

Turn order

Boss follows a straightforward 2 turn rotation:

  1. Basic Attack: Acid Expansion
  2. Skill I: Festering Spittle

Position everybody to get afflicted with [Digestive Saliva].

Solo Centaureissi: start your battle with basic attack.

  1. Skill II: Crested Split
  2. Basic Attack: Acid Expansion
  3. Skill III: Howl of the Hunt

Dispel [Digestive Saliva] from Dolls, leaving at least one afflicted Doll.

Daily Aid Notes

Ammo Type Penetration:

Penetration stacks additively with other sources of defense reduction. Excluding Yoohee buff effect, overcapping penetration does not provide any benefit.

A squad with a source of [Def Down II] and the capacity to maintain [Saliva-Dipped] stacks will only benefit from Ammo Type Penetration Aid during early turns.

Distance Precision Targeting:

Range for both long and short variations is calculated relative to the center tile of the boss, not its whole body.

High Explosive Warhead:

25% critical chance increase is a pretty decent Aid, increasing damage of affected dolls by 6+% depending on your investment/weapon.

Its effectiveness falls drastically once you overcap your crit chance, with prime examples being baseline Makiatto reaching 100% crit chance on her own, and seasonal element dolls getting an extra 30% critical rate increase from seasonal Aid.

A burn squad during burn season, or a squad built around rental V6C6 Klukai during a corrosion season will have little to no benefit from High Explosive Warhead Aid.
