MOG 2.0 Weapon tier list

What are the best weapons in Mog 2.0?

You are only given six slots for your weapons, so choosing the best ones is important. When you level up inside a round, you are going to get a choice of either a weapon or a module that you can use, or the option to level up one of your current weapons or modules.

There are 21 regular weapons and 6 Evolved weapons, not counting any of the starter weapons because you are guaranteed to have one of them when you choose a character. In 99% of cases, you are going to want to prioritize weapons that can Evolve.

Here is a list of all the weapons that can evolve paired with their counterpart, and on the right is their evolution:

  • EX. Energy Mine = Landmine + Energy Field
  • EX. Boomerang Missile = Boomerang + Missile
  • EX. Hyper Homing Laser = Homing Laser + Rocket Launcher
  • EX. Plasma Sword Custom = Plasma Sword + Spinning Sawtooth
  • EX. Pulse Cannon = Pulse Gun + Large Caliber Sniper Rifle
  • EX. Shock Reflector = Pulse Gun + Reflector

These are generally the weapons you want to be going for no matter the stage, but chances are you will get only 1 or 2 per round, so out of these, the ones you should be going for are Hyper Homing Laser, Boomerang Missile, Plasma Sword Custom, and Energy Mine.

From my experience, both Pulse Gun evolutions are worse than the other evolutions. If you would like to use them, feel free; however, the Sniper Rifle evolution is awful, and I highly recommend not going for it.

Now for the non-evolved weapons, I’ll tell you the ones that are good and the ones you should avoid, but first, we need to show the difference between a Good weapon and Evolution Fodder.

Many of the weapons that can evolve are pretty bad by themselves. For example, if you are trying to evolve Missile but taking it will fill up your 6 slots, and you don’t have Boomerang yet, it would be a bad idea to take it because your 6-slot limit is blocking your evolution, and it makes Missile by itself an awful weapon.

To sum it up, only take Trash weapons if you already have their Evolution pair; it’s not worth the risk of getting stuck with a bad weapon.

All the weapons below are ranked independently. This tier list is for when you can only get the weapon without its evolution. With that being said, here are the good weapons that you should probably take even if you can’t evolve them:

  • Boomerang
  • Landmine
  • Reflector
  • Homing laser
  • Black Hole Missile
  • Energy Sword
  • Rocket launcher
  • Plasma Sword
  • Pulse Gun
  • Energy Field
  • Mass-Produced Self-Destruct Drone
  • Energy Robot
  • Tactical Rifle
  • Shotgun
  • Large Caliber Sniper Rifle
  • Transformer Tactical Rifle
  • Beam Chakram
  • Grenade
  • Submachine Gun
  • Missile
  • Spinning Sawtooth

One small thing to mention is that Boomerang does not work properly when the game is sped up. For some reason, Boomerang’s damage will practically disappear for anything past 1.5x speed; this also applies to its Evolution.

This problem does not appear to affect any other weapon. This doesn’t matter for the hard parts of the game because you are already slowing it down, but I thought I would mention it. (To sum it up, if you are grinding for coins at 2x speed, never take Boomerang).
